Energise Minds, Power Our WoRld

The global energy crisis began during the pandemic, with countries facing shortages and exponential increases in oil, gas and electricity prices. While governments and international organizations push plans to cut oil use and reliance on gas, common citizens like you and I can play our part in reducing our energy consumption.

Realising low energy literacy awareness among school students about energy sources, consumption patterns, and environmental impacts, I decided to raise awareness through my EMPOWER Campaign.

EMPOWER is an Energy Literacy and Sustainability Campaign focused on promoting awareness and fostering responsible energy practices, EMPOWER’ ing students with the knowledge and skills to make informed energy-related decisions at home and in their communities. While enriching educational experiences, it will help prepare the next generation of leaders to drive positive societal transformation and shape a brighter, greener future for all.

Why energy matters?

Empower Campaign Objectives

The EMPOWER Campaign will equip students with an in-depth understanding to enable them to contribute to meaningful change, no matter how small – by making informed decisions on minimizing our carbon footprint, by reducing cost through energy efficiency and by advocating for sustainable energy practices and policies. The 3 pillars of this Campaign are:

Increase awareness

Expand students’ current horizon on how different energy sources work, their environmental implications and sustainable energy sources that should be considered as alternatives.

Equip with resources and tools

Increase depth of understanding on responsible energy consumption and inspire sustainable energy conservation efforts through tactical tools and plans they can implement.

Enable action

Encourage students to critically analyze their daily energy-related actions, and explore innovative solutions and advocate for policies that prioritize sustainable energy adoption, thereby enabling positive change.

DNA of the Program

School & Community Outreach

This campaign will have community outreach, by making presentations across London schools and Merton council to raise awareness about sustainable energy practices and through engaging modules that lead to certifications.

Educational Resources & Online Program

The online course is designed to enhance energy literacy with the knowledge and tools to understand the world of energy. It offers access to online downloadable power points, videos covering various energy-related topics.

Interactive Workshops

Engaging sessions will be done in partner schools which shall cover topics like renewable energy, energy efficiency, and climate change.

Learn from Energy Experts

Aaditya Jhamb, the Founder of the EMPOWER Campaign is a Sixth Form student at Kings College School, Wimbledon, London. He is a School Prefect, a member of School’s 1XI Cricket Team and Captain of the U17 Team at Sunbury Cricket Club.

Aaditya’s research work on “Energy Footprint of Water” at the Centre for System Engineering and Innovation at Imperial College, London fueled his passion Energy & Sustainability. His research on “Machine Learning Models for Predicting the Heating and Cooling Loads of Residential Buildings” was published in IEEE Xplore (2023).

Realising low understanding of energy issues amongst students, Aaditya decided to launch an energy literacy campaign to share his passion and EMPOWER them to become future leaders in sustainability.
